At INOVA, we are grateful for the dedicated volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors. Their mission is to ensure INOVA remains committed to the best interests of our members by operating at the optimal level of safety, soundness, and integrity.

Elections

There are two board seats up for election at this year’s annual meeting. The Nominating Committee has slated one candidate for each of the open seats.

There will be no nominations from the floor, and the election will not be conducted by ballot when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled.  Any member of INOVA Federal that is in good standing and has not been slated by the Nominating Committee may have their name placed on the ballot by petition.  To be added to the ballot by petition, a candidate must provide such petition signed by 1% of the members (a minimum of 472 signatures of members in good standing). 

Each nominee by petition must submit a statement of qualifications and biographical data with the petition. To be effective, such nominations must also be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee or nominees stating that they are agreeable for nomination and will serve if elected to office. This form may be obtained by contacting the credit union via email at [email protected]. Such nominations must be filed with the secretary of the credit union no later than Saturday, February 14, 2026 and must be sent to the following address:

The nominating committee has slated the following candidates for election:


Stephen P. Phillips

Steve retired from Sullair Corporation LLC, a division of Hitachi Group Companies, in 2020 after 45 years of continuous service as a Senior International Sales Technician in the Customer Care Aftermarket Division. 

For the past 21 years, he has also worked as a customer sales associate at the Tommy Hilfiger store at the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets in Michigan City, Indiana. 

Steve currently serves as the Board Chairman for the volunteer Board of Directors of he Dunes Chapter of Credit Unions of La Porte County, Indiana. He has also been a mentor to students at Niemann Elementary School in Michigan City and a volunteer ESL mentor for the El Puente Center in La Porte, Indiana. 

He has completed studies through Purdue University's Continuing Studies program. 

Steve currently serves as the 1st Vice Chairman of INOVA's Board and is an active member of the IT & Security, Investment, and Asset Liability Management Committees. He has previously held positions as Board Chairman, Board Vice Chairman, and member of both the Supervisory and Nominating Committees. 


Charles M. Walker

Charlie retired from a management position at Bayer Healthcare after more than 40 years of service. He also served on the Elkhart Community School Board for eight years. 

He served on the INOVA Supervisory Committee for five years before joining the Board of Directors in 2008. he currently serves as a director and participates on the IT & Security, Investment, and Asset Liability Management Committees. He has previously held roles including Board Chairman and Board Vice Chairman. 

Charlie serves as a Trustee for St. James A.M.E. Church and is currently involved with the Elkhart Community Foundation. He also serves on the Tolson Board of Directors and volunteers with Susanna's Kitchen. Charlie has completed specialized training in management, quality, and SAP.
